Welcome to the Hotel del Sitjar

Hotel del Sitjar is located in Calaceit a town in Teruel’s Matarranya county . It is housed in an impressive 18th century ancestral house located in the town square alongside what remains of the original city walls. A charming rural hotel close to Los Ports de Beseit and well placed for walks to the Parrisal. Moreover, the hotel is situated close to MotorLand, the racetrack in Alcanyís.? Calaceit, a medieval village surrounded by vineyards, olive groves and almond orchards, has been declared a site of historic, artistic and cultural interest by the Spanish government. It has long been a meeting place for intellectuals and artists alike for which it has gained the reputation of “inland Cadaqués”.

The main facade is in stone with wrought iron balconies in a style that is typical to Calaceit and other places in the Matarranya county. On the inside, the original masonry has been recovered as have the wooden beams. On entering the reception area from the village square, guests step across a glass floor allowing them to appreciate the four centuries-old silos (sitjars in Catalan) that originally had a public use and that are now displayed in the hotel’s cellar. This unique and distinguished house has been respectfully and carefully restored, transforming it into a hotel with charm and character, one of the most welcoming and exquisite hotels in the province. Attention has been paid to every detail and the classic interior design is in harmony with the latest appliances so that guests feel at home during their stay, longing to return to enjoy the atmosphere of both the hotel and the Matarranya. Indeed, Hotel del Sitjar was presented with the 2010 tourism merit award by the Government of Aragon.

?The hotel celebrates local customs and traditions from the Matarranya county, an area that borders both Tarragona and Castellón. It is located near the Ebro Delta, halfway between the sea and the interior of the peninsula. Here the villages have a distinctive medieval appearance and the landscape is typically Mediterranean. There are unique beauty spots located within the geographic triangle formed by the historic towns of Alcanyís, Tortosa and Morella that are of natural and cultural value.

Enjoy staying in a charming hotel in Calaceit and discover the Matarranya county, Parrisal, Los Ports de Beseit, other fascinating natural treasures or visit MotorLand racetrack in Alcanyís. Undoubtedly one of the best hotels in Teruel and Aragon. ?
